The two hundred and twenty-third episode of Hand Of Pod was recorded by Sam and Andrés in a rather cold living room, because it’s chilly in Buenos Aires at present and no gas in Sam’s building means no central heating in Sam’s building. The dedication we show to this podcast… anyway, we discuss a weekend of clásico action in which not very much happened, apart from one or two appalling fouls and some decent goals (but not many of them at all). Other topics covered are the AFA’s need for new TV rights and national team kit deals (they need money from anyone who’ll give it to them, so if you’ve ever wanted to sponsor a major international football team…), and the chances Argentine clubs have in the Copa Libertadores.

The seventy-third episode of Hand Of Pod sees Sam, Dan and Dan welcome tamed San Lorenzo fan Mariano back to the podcast for his third appearance. We take the opportunity to ask him to get us up to date on San Lorenzo’s current very confused off-pitch situation, as well as getting his thoughts on how the team have started the season. We look at a thumping win for Racing in the Avellaneda derby against Independiente, consider wins for both River Plate and Boca Juniors, and discuss two stunning long-range goals, from Newell’s Ignacio Scocco and Lanús’ Víctor Ayala.
As usual, Mystic Dan’s predictions for this weekend are below, and you can click here to subscribe to us on iTunes.

In the sixteenth episode of Hand Of Pod, Sam, Dan and Dan discuss the weekend’s footballing action in Argentina, which included a hat trick at La Bombonera from a visiting forward you may never have heard of, a double strike from – are you sitting down? – Cristian ‘Fat Fab’ Fabbiani, and of course the clásico de Avellaneda which we previewed last week, and which was won 2-0 by Racing. We also talk about whether River can sustain their title challenge (Vélez won the game in hand 2-0 to move top just before this episode went online) and discuss the pointlessness or otherwise of the ‘local national team’, who played a 2-2 draw with Ecuador shortly before this episode was uploaded.
As usual, Mystic Dan’s predictions are below the ‘Continue Reading’ line, and don’t forget you can subscribe on iTunes if you so wish.
