Episode 75: Tactical confusion at River, and an Argentina v Paraguay preview

The seventy-fifth episode of Hand Of Pod is a bumper one ahead of Friday evening’s World Cup qualifier in Córdoba between Argentina and Paraguay. Gearing up for that match, we’ve got Asunción resident Ralph Hannah on to tell us what’s been going on with the Paraguayan national team, and also take a look at the Argentine side and their chances. There’s a full weekend of league games in Argentina as well, and we look back on the last round which included a draw for River Plate seemingly in spite of their manager, a hat-trick from a potential Next Big Thing at Racing, an enormous number of red cards, and no shortage of goals. Enjoy.

As usual, Mystic Dan’s predictions can be read below. And don’t forget, we’re on iTunes here, and Twitter here.

Mystic Dan’s sixth round predictions
San Martín v Arsenal
Rafaela v All Boys
Estudiantes v Vélez
San Lorenzo v Colón
Independiente v Quilmes
Argentinos v Boca
Belgrano v Racing
River v Newell’s
Unión v Tigre
Lanús v Godoy Cruz

  1. 1.Does Julio Grondona go to see a game every weekend and if so which stadium is he most likely to be at?

    2. What is the logic behind the Incial fixture. Tigre played an away game far far from home on Monday night and play their next (a home game) on Saturday night. That gives them less rest time than any other team. Why is that?
