Hand Of Pod Episode 8: Tevez vs Batista

24 Feb

In the eighth episode of Hand Of Pod, Sam, Dan, Dan and Seba examine the recent (and ongoing) feud between Carlos Tevez and Argentina’s national manager Sergio Batista – and AFA President Julio Grondona. They also look back on an interesting clásico clash between Racing and Boca Juniors in Avellaneda, and look forward to the coming weekend’s matches, including a big derby clash between River Plate and Independiente. And Sam’s got confirmation of a controversial rumour from late last year that was discussed in a 2010 episode of the show.

Hand Of Pod episode 7

18 Feb

In the seventh episode of Hand Of Pod, we welcome a new member to the team. Seba García, the creator of the very excellent Mundo Albiceleste, joins us for the first time as a regular fourth contributor to the podcast. Zombie is also present, and he’s not pleased at all at the performance of the kids in the Sudamericano Sub 20. We discuss the upcoming Racing vs Boca Juniors clásico, which will be without both key playmakers. Giovanni Moreno’s injury had just started filtering through when we recorded, and it emerged afterwards that Juan Román Riquelme also won’t be able to play. Mystic Dan has had another go at divining the upcoming results, after only getting four out of ten last week. His predictions are below the ‘Continue reading’ line, but to listen to the pod, just click ‘play’. And don’t forget, if you want to you can subscribe on iTunes.

Also a plug for last week’s Gib Football Show, a Copa Libertadores preview special featuring Sam along with a few other experts on South American football.

You can find each of us on Twitter too! Sam Kelly is @HEGS_com; Seba García is @MundoAlbicelest; Australian Dan (Colasimone) is @ArgentinaFW, and English Dan (Edwards) is @DanEdwardsGoal.

Hand Of Pod episode 6

The summer break is finally over, real football is upon us once more, and Sam and the Dans are back on a roof terrace in darkest Caballito discussing the major transfer moves, the kids’ performances in the Sudamericano Sub 20, and who we think will do what during the Clausura. Our new weekly feature, Mystic Dan, has also arrived. Listen hard (or not so hard) and you’ll hear some of the neighbourhood kids screaming at their mother… and, of course, Zombie the Hand Of Pod dog. Sound quality drops a little bit for a couple of seconds at a time early on, for which apologies. This is a bumper one-hour season preview show, so enjoy it! And don’t forget, you can subscribe to the show on iTunes as well.

Don’t forget you can read plenty from the Hand Of Pod contributors on our websites: Sam runs Hasta El Gol Siempre, Aussie Dan maintains Argentina Football World and English Dan is the South America correspondent for Goal.com – here’s his preview of the 2011 Clausura.
